This week, student workers met to deliver our open letter to our MTA directors, signed by a majority of student workers, urging them to advocate for our right to unionize.

Support SPOC-UAW: Additionally, as you may have heard, Sinai postdocs unionized last year and have been negotiating for improvements in the midst of a postdoc compensation crisis, skyrocketing housing costs, insufficient family-friendly policies, and more economic challenges. Sinai’s administration has yet to respond to postdocs’ economic proposals introduced nearly three months ago, and continues to reject basic protections against unfair terminations, sexual harassment, workplace bullying, and more. These are issues that directly impact us as students and researchers, and we stand united with postdocs in fighting for better working conditions and greater equity and inclusivity at Sinai.
On September 28, postdocs will hold an informational picket on campus to draw attention to their campaign, inform the community, and show Sinai that they are serious about reaching a fair contract.
