Show Sinai we will not be stopped! Vote on the Initial Bargaining Goals now

We have an important update regarding our demands to bring Sinai to the bargaining table. After almost 2 weeks of no response to our demand to bargain, late last night, the Sinai administration responded by saying that the School “declines to commence bargaining”.

This decision is an effort to invalidate the legitimacy of our cause and delay our progress. By refusing to bargain, the Sinai administration has chosen to side with Trump’s anti-union stance in the hopes that a Trump-appointed National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) will grant their appeal against our union. This would not only throw out the results of our democratic election but would also take away our collective bargaining rights.

It is deeply disappointing that Sinai would attempt to side with the Trump administration against members of their own research community. However, we know from the experience of our graduate colleagues at Columbia and NYU, who won union recognition from similarly hostile administrations, that in order to overcome these attempts we must continue to show repeatedly that a supermajority of student workers support our right to unionise.

If you have not voted on the Initial Bargaining Goals yet, this is your opportunity to let the Sinai administration know that we will not let them steamroll us into submission.

The vote to ratify these goals ends TODAY (Friday, 12/20). Eligible voters are all graduate student workers currently employed by the institute who have filled out a bargaining survey or an authorization card.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or thoughts, and make sure to vote!
